About
Orchard Veterinary Group is a mixed veterinary practice situated in Glastonbury in the heart of the Somerset levels in the beautiful South-West of England. We are general practitioners which is to say we enjoy dealing with pretty much every type of animal which is presented to us.
Our pets section makes up about 60% of the business and includes not only dogs, cats, ferrets rabbits and other of the “small furries” such as mice, rats and guineapigs but on occasions more unusual individuals as well including bearded dragons, iguanas, tortoises and terrapins, snakes and the odd sugar glider too!
At Orchard Veterinary Group we pride ourselves in the way we look after both our clients and their pets and that is apparent as soon as you step into our spacious waiting area. Our reception and office staff Abi, Caroline and Ray and office manager Liz are there to greet you when you arrive and make sure your needs are met and any and all enquiries are dealt with promptly while pets are shamelessly bribed with biscuits and plenty of fuss!
With a large, sunny waiting room and two separate seating areas to allow space for each individual this reduces stress and avoids those occasional ’personality clashes’ which can be so upsetting when they happen. Our four consulting rooms, designed to allow disabled access, also mean that waiting times are kept to a minimum.
Our farm section has been in the Glastonbury area in various forms for around 70 years. During that time we have accumulated invaluable knowledge of the unique local conditions found in the region, particularly with reference to teart pasture management. We have also been at the forefront of the veterinary scene nationally too, from early pioneering work with AI to present day collaborations with Bristol and Nottingham Universities on groundbreaking work on herd health and fertility and mastitis control and farm assurance schemes in dairy herds.
As well as our extremely competent and experienced team of farm vets we also have on the staff not one but two Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons registered farm animal specialists – that’s pretty good going considering there are only a dozen or so in the whole of the UK.
We take great pride in our practice and firmly believe that we can offer all our clients, domestic pets or production animals exactly what it says in our tag line – the best in animal care, the best in client care all day, every day…
